2025 TAITA Student Leadership Scholarship

TAITA-SV is excited to announce the 2025 TAITA-SV Student Leadership Scholarship, designed to encourage and recognize the scholastic and leadership achievements of high school students. This scholarship will be awarded to up to five high school students who demonstrate a balanced mix of academic excellence, participation in extracurricular activities, and involvement in community service. Award winners will be required to attend the 2025 TAITA-SV Annual Banquet to receive their certificate of scholarship and award check.

The Scholarship Program aims to provide merit-based scholarships to high school students who are financially disadvantaged in the greater Northern California area.

Eligibility

All student applicants must meet the following qualifications:

• The student must be enrolled in junior high school or high school in Northern California at the time of application with a minimum average GPA of 3.0.
• The student must be recommended by ONE (1) TAITA-SV board director or advisor, or TWO (2) TAITA members. If the applicant does not know any TAITA-SV board director or advisor, they can send a request to scholarship@taita.org for a recommendation. TAITA will arrange for a board director or advisor to speak with the applicant.
• The student must demonstrate a desire to learn and continue their education. Those in a financially disadvantaged situation will be considered first.

Five recipients will be awarded $1,000 each. The application deadline is August 15, 2025. Please visit www.taita.org to download an application form and additional information.

Application Process

Provide the following:

1. A completed application form (enclosed with this packet)
2. A one-page written biography (typed, double-spaced, Times New Roman, font size 12)
3. A typed essay on the following prompt:
   “The Taiwan I know” (Approximately 1000 words)
4. One letter of recommendation on official letterhead emailed to info@taita.org by a faculty member, teacher, counselor, community leader, or supervisor
5. An official copy of the most recent transcript. The selection committee will contact finalists for an interview.

Recipients of Scholarship

Award recipients will be required to attend the 2025 TAITA Annual Banquet that will be held in the Silicon Valley in fall 2025 to receive the certificate of scholarship and an award check. Award recipients are expected to display a poster highlighting the scope and significance of their work.
